American educated Christina was from a wealthy family in Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur. Her beauty and elegance captivated many famous artists including Xu Beihong and Basoeki Abdullah. Xu’s “Portrait of a Young Lady” (1940) oil on canvas was of Christina Lee HuiWang who married mogul Loke Wan Tho, then among the richest in Asia. This painting is from the Private Collection of Christina Loke. Signed bottom right.
