American educated Christina was from a wealthy family in Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur. Her beauty and elegance captivated many famous artists including Xu Beihong and Basoeki Abdullah. Xu’s “Portrait of a Young Lady” (1940) oil on canvas was of Christina Lee HuiWang who married mogul Loke Wan Tho, then among the richest in Asia.
