Mandy Tay, born in Singapore, studied multimedia art at LaSalle-SIA College of The Arts. A self-taught photographer, she shoots with an extremely strong aesthetic eye with minimal equipment.
After winning a photo competition organized by British Airways in 2009, the latter was so impressed by the rest of her photographs that they sent her on a photography trip around Europe. The results were presented for the first time to the public in her first solo exhibition held at the British Consulate in Hong Kong graced by the Consul-General. All 16 photographs were put up for sale in a silent auction with 100% of the proceeds going to UNICEF.
Since then, her works have adorned the likes of Deutsche Bank, Fortis Investments, and Eversheds in Hong Kong. Tay’s distinctive style also captured the eye of Nikon Focus and she had the honour of being featured at the lead photographer of its final edition. One of the first AAF supporters, she also held sold out shows at the first 2 editions in Singapore besides 4 other exhibitions in Hong Kong.
After 4 years in Hong Kong, Tay moved to Dubai for 3 years where she visited Iran and produced the viral video of her 2-week trip.
At the moment, Tay is finally back in Singapore after a year of travelling through South America, Europe and Asia. It has been 8 years since she was home.
